When the announcement of the 2018 Mega Boxes was made by Topps on the Lemme Get That Podagraph Podcast, collectors immediately wanted to see the checklist.  Once they hit the shelves literally a week and a half later, one thing stood out more than the impressive mojo parallels and stacked checklist: Angels rookie phenom Shohei Ohtani autographs were nowhere to be found.

Then. 3 days ago a picture of an Ohtani redemption appeared on Twitter and facebook, baffling collectors.  Most cried “FAKE!”, as he was nowhere to be found on the autograph checklist, and none had surfaced weeks into the release.

Topps put the speculation to rest, announcing on their official Twitter account that he in fact DOES have autographs in the Bowman Mega Boxes.  They are inserted as redemption cards, and are incredibly limited.

It’s important to note that the redemptions, although included in Mega Boxes, are NOT the Mojo parallels.  Instead, they are the base Bowman Chrome autographs from 2018 Bowman Baseball.  An unfortunate turn, as some Ohtani Mojo autos would be beautiful to see.  But it does add yet another impressive autograph to the already stacked checklist.
