The 2018 Major League Baseball draft was held earlier this month. The MLB draft has been an event I have closely followed since the early 2000’s. Before it became a prime time event on MLB Network I would sit by my Gateway computer during summer break from college listening online at as each pick was read. No hosts, no background…just names being announced and streamed on a 56K modem. I had to pause my Napster queue for the day to listen.
Custom cards using the Rookies App has also been a fascination over the past few years and I’ve added several Cubs cards using the app. Matt in Milwaukee had an idea before this baseball season started regarding a Topps Now/Documentary set for each game in 2018 for his Milwaukee Brewers. I loved the idea, but never went ahead to create a Cubs set along those lines.
However, my draft fascination led me to create a Draft Day set for each of the Cubs selections. Chicago drafted 42 players in the 40 rounds (they had two sandwich picks in round two for losing Wade Davis and Jake Arrieta in free agency). Here’s the 2018 Cubs Draft in custom baseball cards.
